Nikhil Gopalan
Founder & CEO · SAP Labs, SAP, TCS, UST
Cokonet was founded by an SAP professional who kept consulting while he built it: SAP Labs, SAP Global Delivery, TCS, then SAP practice leadership at UST, and finally Cokonet full-time. The academy still runs on that standard: industry people teaching industry skills, with the numbers published.
The founder arc. Nikhil Gopalan started at SAP Labs, moved through SAP Global Delivery, consulted at TCS where he founded Cokonet in 2010, then led SAP practice at UST before going full-time as CEO. The academy was never a plan B; it was the industry teaching itself.
LinkedIn shows 2012, which is when the company was formalised; the work, the first batches and the first placements began in 2010.
1,00,000 careers built by 2030. Not enrolments: careers, counted the way the placements page counts them, with the method attached.
English and Malayalam delivery, district-by-district online reach, and Gulf-friendly batches for the diaspora.
Five of its rules are visible on every course page; here is the system they come from.
The Applied Competency Framework (ACF) is the operating standard behind every course on this site: one rulebook covering how curriculum is built, how learning is delivered, how competency is proven and how a learner is handed to the placement team.
Curriculum is designed backwards from live employer demand and refreshed every 2 to 3 months. Learning is practical-first: projects, scenarios and assignments before memorisation, taught only by professionals who work in the industry they teach.
Progress is measured, not assumed. Every learner carries a Career Readiness Index (CRI), a weighted readiness score out of 100, and must clear stage gates, including a portfolio-worthy capstone, before the formal placement handoff. Outcomes are jointly owned by trainer and learner; success is never outsourced.
Most institutes promise quality; ours is written down. The Applied Competency Framework governs every course on this site.
Modules ordered by what live postings mention most, recorded in research dossiers.
Concept, demonstration, assignment, research task, mentor follow-up: every session, every course.
Industry practitioners only, audited against the trainer framework.
Competency scored, not attendance counted.
The 7-step framework runs alongside the syllabus, not after it.

Nikhil Gopalan starts Cokonet while consulting at TCS, after SAP Labs and SAP Global Delivery; the academy grows alongside Cokonet Technologies Pvt Ltd, the parent IT company whose live projects still feed our internships.
Career grooming becomes a written framework, not a favour: CV, mocks, matching, and hiring partners who keep coming back.
Trivandrum HQ and Kochi go in-centre, Bengaluru follows; NASSCOM, NSDC, Government of Kerala ASAP and the OEM authorisations stack up.
Eleven thousand placed through 400+ hiring partners, a 4.7 rating across 405 Google reviews, and a 90-day median to first offer.
